Q: Toshiba Tecra 500CS and XFree86

Hi all,

I plan to intall Linux and XFree86 on my Toshiba Tecra 500CS. I heard that one

need to know the horizontal and vertical refresh rates of the monitor to setup
X
Window. How can I know these parameters for the internal LCD display of the
Tecra 500CS? Or if you have successfully setup X on 500CS, could you please
pass me the value of these parameters or a copy of your configuration file?
I'd really appreciate it.

1. Toshiba TECRA 500CS video dirver for OSR5 - help!

First, thanks to Bela who responded to my earlier plea for help on this
subject.

Unfortunately, even after loading AHS 5.0.2 as Bela suggested, I still
cannot get this machine to use a higher resolution than 640x480 with
monitor or LCD. When I mkdev graphics and select the CT65550 driver, it
offers me all the various resolutions, but the only one which doesn't
generate garbage on the screen is 640x480.

The graphics chip is supposed to be capable of 1024x768. The LCD panel
is capable of 800x600. What am I doing wrong? Does the selection of
monitor type in mkdev graphics have any effect? I have just been
selecting "other 14 inch" as no other selection seemed exactly
appropriate.

Has anyone succeeded in making this thing work?
