I use:
#! /bin/sh
PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin
popclient -3 -u <remote username> -p <remote password> -c <remote host>\
| /usr/local/bin/formail -s /usr/local/bin/procmail -d <local user>
(the \ is just because the line is too long to post...)
This script calls popclient, which gets all mails from the server and
deletes them there. Then it calls formail, which calls procmail exactly
once for every mail and delivers them to <local user>.
The only problem is that if there is no mail to retrieve from the server,
you will get "empty" mails, which will expand to messages send
.procmailrc (notice _old_ syntax, use the new one instead):
