by My Alt-key is not working as Meta-key in serveral applications:
xfig
netscape
emacs, when it runs in an xterm
but the Alt-key works, if emacs runs in its own window.
I do not know where this problem could be caused. So any hint is
welcome.
My system is a slackware 3.0 based linux box.
