Help! ftp problem with Red hat 5.1

Try creating a new user and set their shell to /bin/csh and see
if they can get it.  There is a file.  Not sure at the moment I'm
still trying to install RedHat myself, but it like ftpshell or something.
Anyway, seems that though bash is the default shell it isn't
included in this file while all the others are.  One of those nice
easy to use Unix features.  Anyway, add the bash shell to this
file, whatever it is, and you should be OK.

I hope this helps.

Cheers .... Glenc

Hi:
I just upgraded from redhat 5.0 to redhat 5.1. All was well with 5.0.
After the upgrade ftp from remote hosts to the upgraded machine
stopped working (except for anonymous!?). I have checked
all the /etc/ftpusers, /etc/ftpaccess, ...., file. Everything stayed
as before. Whenever I try to ftp to the 5.1 machine from a remote host
I get: "Login incorrect"
       "Login failed"
Did anyone faced this problem beore? Please help!
Samy Zafrany.

Help! ftp problem with Red hat 5.1

Thanks!!!
It did solve the problem! I knew about the file /bin/shells.
But I was not aware that it did not include my favourite shell:
/bin/zsh. I looked at a redhat 5.0 machine and it is there!?
Why suddenly /bin/zsh is not included anymore in /etc/shells ?!?!?!
Only god knows why.
But it could cause serious trouble to other people. So once
and for all, for all people that are stuck with this trouble:
Look at the /etc/shells, and see if all your used shells are there!
This solves the problem described bellow--->

1. Red Hat 5.0 vs. Red Hat 5.1

Hello everybody - what a beautiful day it is! Let's not get to funked
up, and get yourself a nice little pink flower to put in a orange vase.
Then grab yourself a slice and sit down and enjoy yourself. It can be
done in lot's of different ways -- just go ahead and do it under the
green sun.

Well... Nevermind.

I'm planning to buy Red Hat 5.1 official to replace my Red Hat 5.0 with.
But before I do that I wonder if there are any disadvantages, hazards or
such with RH 5.1, compared to RH 5.0. Is the installation as safe (don't
forget LILO), and things such as X, sound-support, printers and ppp -
are they still well supported, and not buggy or so?

Thanks in advance,

/Henrik

By the way, don't let the opening of this letter make you think that I'm
not serious enough.
