Very Computer

Hello there.
This is my second shot at Linux, and the first time I had the same problem.

I have a 6x Creative ATAPI CDrom and using a Sound Blaster 16 PnP card.
And Linux can't find it. I'm trying "mount hdc=0x168,10 cdrom=hdc". I got
something like that last time I've asked, but I can't find the full thing.
It is set on master. (and I have a IDE HD on hda) The port 168 and IRQ 10 I
got from DOS. I have booted with bare.i sbpcd.i scsi.s iomega.s disks, and
none of them even try to find it. I'm using Slackware (still downloading it)

Try

ide2=0x168,10 hde=cdrom

instead. Note: This may only work if using loadlin from a DOS partition,
unless you have successfully setup your PnP cards in Linux.

                          Survives system reboot.

Remove the connection to the noise maker and plug it in as a master or
slave on a regular IDE port and it will most likely work.

Make sure you set the jumpers on the drive correctly

I have a card like this and Red Hat.

Using the SCSI image which includes IDE support I had no problem,  RH
found the device under /dev/hdd which I then mounted on /dev/cdrom
etc.

I did have a problem with slakware but that was my first attempt at
linux also.
