The dreaded RH7 Anaconda error.... This link will take you to Redhat's
site ( from there you will need to download the new/improved anaconda
update disk ).

http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/RHBA-2000-084.html

OR, if all of the RH7 installation software is present on the
hard-drive you can boot with a dos/windows floppy and start the
install from inside the x:\redhat7\dosutils directory, using the
autoboot command... This will initiate the setup program in "text"
(red/yellow windows) mode, which isn't as pretty as the graphical
setup, but at least it doesn't crash that way.

1. Cannot boot in RH7.0 after install, please help..

Hi

I installed RH 7.0 on a HP 8699F with the following
setup

Pentium II 800 MHZ
256 MB SDRAM
40 GB Hard drive partitioned as (with partition magic) as
Primary:
Fat32 (C)- 3.3 GB  (should be /dev/hda1)
Extended:
Linux Ext2 - 64MB mounted as /boot (should be /dev/hda5)
Fat32 (D)- 3 GB   (should be /dev/hda6)
Fat32 (E) - 3 GB  (should be /dev/hda7)
Fat32 (F) - 3GB  (should be /dev/hda8)
Fat32 (G) - 3GB  (should be /dev/hda9)
Fat32 (H) - 3 GB  (should be /dev/hda10)
Fat32 (I) - 3GB  (should be /dev/hda11)
Fat32 (J) - 3GB  (should be /dev/hda12)
Fat32 (K) - 3GB  (should be /dev/hda13)
Fat32 (L) - 3GB  (should be /dev/hda14)
Swapspace : 512 MB  (should be /dev/hda15)
Linux Ext2:  1 GB mounted as /  (should be /dev/hda16)
Linux Ext2:  1 GB mounted as /usr (should be /dev/hda17)
Linux Ext2:  1 GB mounted as /home (should be /dev/hda18)
Linux Ext2:  1 GB mounted as /opt (should be /dev/hda19)

I kept the boot partition between the FAT32s to load LILO
under the 1024 cyl limit as required by BootMagic.
The installation went through fine. When I rebooted after install,
it came back with the message

The superblock could not read or does not describe a ext2 file system.
If the device is valid or if it really contains an ext2 file system (or not
a swap or something else), then the superblock is corrupt and you might
try running e2fck with an alternate superblock:
e2fck -b 8193 <device>

followed by three messages..

fck.ex2: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/hda18
fck.ex2: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/hda19
fck.ex2: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/hda17

The only thing I did not do while installation is to check for errors
as this was already done during partitioning in PM 6.0.  I tried
checking the three partitions for errors in PM 6.0 but could not
find any errors.Any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks for all your help
