1. New version of e2fsprogs 0.5c on tsx-11.mit.edu

:
: I've just put a new, slightly modified e2fsprogs 0.5c on tsx-11.mit.edu.
: The only difference between this updated 0.5c release and the previous
: one is that the binary distribution files have been stripped, and e2fsck
: is now linked statically.  The install productions in the Makefiles in
: the source distribution have been updated as well.
:
: So, if you grabbed a version of e2fsprogs 0.5c where the version date
: (printed by the programs and in version.h in the top level of the source
: distribution) is 25-Oct-95, you may want to pick up a new version, dated
: 26-Oct-95.  There aren't any bugs fixed; the binaries are just stripped
: before installation so they take up a little less room, and e2fsck is
: now linked statically so that it will work even if filesystem corruption
: has damaged the shared libraries.

I grabbed this version and compiled it myself - both under a.out and elf
(kernel 1.2.13, gcc 2.6.3 [a.out] and 2.7.0 [elf]). In both installation the
fsck program seems to be broken:

fsck -VAR -text2 -pv
Parallelizing fsck version 0.5c (27-Oct-95)
Checking all file systems.
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
Segmentation fault

The following command works:
fsck -VAR -pv
Parallelizing fsck version 0.5c (27-Oct-95)
Checking all file systems.
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
[/sbin/fsck.ext2] fsck.ext2 -pv /dev/hdb1
[/etc/fs/fsck.msdos] fsck.msdos -pv /dev/hda1
/dev/hdb1 is mounted.  Do you really want to continue (y/n)? no

check aborted.
[/sbin/fsck.ext2] fsck.ext2 -pv /dev/hdb2
/dev/hdb2 is mounted.  Do you really want to continue (y/n)? no

check aborted.
----------------------------------

What gives?
