(For the Dutch: sorry that it's in english)
Hello,
I have a HP C6270A scanner with ADF.
sane-find-scanner finds this scanner:
sane-find-scanner: found USB scanner (vendor = 0x03f0, product = 0x0201)
at device /dev/usb/scanner0
sane-find-scanner: found USB scanner (vendor = 0x03f0, product = 0x0102)
at device /dev/usb/scanner1
but when ask scanimage a list it gives no scanner found:
scanimage: no SANE devices found
And when I give the explicit device, it says I use an invalid argument:
scanimage: open of device hp:/dev/sane0 failed: Invalid argument
However, I made a link from
/dev/sane0 to /dev/usb/scanner0 where my scanner resides.
According to
http://sane.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/cgi-bin/
driver.pl?manu=hewlett+packard&model=&bus=usb
Model: Product id: Interface:
ScanJet 6200C C6270A 3828 SCSI/USB
ScanJet 6250C C6270A 3828 SCSI/USB
this scanner is supported by the sane-hp back-end,
which is installed.
Again, according to "man sane-hp" i should have a file
/etc/sane.d/hp.conf
listing the devices.
Now this file was not correct, because it listed only
scsi HP
/dev/scanner
which I (I hope I interpreted the man sane-hp manpage right, changed to
#usb HP
/dev/usb/scanner0
According to the manpage sane-hp, for my USB scanjet I'd need
a special USB driver:
Support for models 5200C/6200C/6250C/6300C/6350C connected to the USB
requires an USB driver available at http://www.jump.net/~dnel
son/linux/usb (under development)
but then, this man page is from sept 4th, 2001, and my RedHat linux 8.0
already has full USB support.
So, do I really need these USB drivers???
Further, this page ceased to exist, and the replacement page
http://www.beattie-home.net/linux/transfer.html
only deals with the HP3300 scanner and no driver seems available there!
So I trust I'd do well ignore this remark in the man page.
But, as it does still not work, I'm completely lost now.
Can anybody help me getting my scanner recognised in xsane and scanimage???
Thanks
flip
