Metro X and keymap

Metro X and keymap

Post by Stefan Fre » Thu, 10 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Hello visitors of this planet !

I have problems with the Metro X Server and a german keymap.
I've the Caldera Open Linux Base produkt.
After installation I startup my Metro X and he said that he can not
read the "keymap/metro" file. I looked in the /usr/lib/X11/xkb/keymap
directory and there was no "metro" file. Question: where did the rpm
install programm copy it ? I tried to copy the "xfree86" keymap file
to "metro" file and the german keyboard layout ( y / z change etc.)
works. But not correctly. When I press an cursor key the X server will
shut down :-( . Now, where is the original "keymap/metro" file ???
Where is my fault ??

Have a nice day and thank you for reading

Stefan

1. fonts and keymaps with Metro-X

I recently got RH4.0 and tried the Metro-X server, but am having two
problems:
  1) My fonts are messed up (-*-charter-*-*-*-*-*-200-*-*-*-*-*-* and
ones under xdvi of TeX programs)
  2) I use a dvorak keyboard and metroX is trying to revert it to a
qwerty one.  I have xconfig set to use 'default' which supposably uses
the console default, but it changes it?

Has anyone had similar problems?
