I've been trying to upgrade my kernel... so far I've tried getting 2.0.22 and
2.1.3 to work with my 2940. However after the detection (for some reason
Linux now detects my 2940 (BIOS rev 1.21) as a 2940 Ultra) of my SCSI card,
the reset delay, the detection of my Plextor 4Plex CDROM, Quantum HD, and 2
SyQuest 3270's I get as far as:
VFS: Mounted Root (ext2 filesystem) readonly
and then it just hangs. My previous kernel (1.2.13) boots just fine. FYI,
Linux boots from System Commander to LILO off the Quantum. The first SyQuest
holds /usr. I have compiled into the kernel 2940 support and support for SCSI
disks and Generic SCSI support. SCSI CDROM support is via modules.
I would be appreciative if any repsonses were cc: to my email address below as
well. TIA!
