Build Slackware from Source

Build Slackware from Source

Post by James L. McGi » Sat, 19 Oct 1996 04:00:00

Before I go too far with this, I wonder:

If I install the current Slackware as-is, straight
off the distribution, then using that just-installed
box, try to build the distribution from source (using
the SlackBuild scripts, and the same source from the
current distribution) it fails in various places in
various ways.

Is it neccessary to be on a pre-2.0 box in order to
rebuild slackware from source?

1. Can any open source compiler convert C++ source to C source?

Hi.  I have a tool for doing static program analysis of C programs,
but I would like to run it on a C++ program.  I don't need to compile
the resulting code, just run it through this static analysis tool.
The output doesn't even need to be readable.  Is there any compiler
that will do this that I don't have to spend a lot for?

Please email response in addition to posting.

Thank you,
Daniel
