configuring email correctly

configuring email correctly

Post by Geoff Le » Thu, 08 Aug 1996 04:00:00

Can someone please email me a sample sendmail.cf file that is being
used.  I'm trying to configure my email to automatically fetch my mail
from my ISP, but I don't understand what is required.

Does sendmail handle this or must I contact my ISP and tell them to
automatically forward all mail to my domain.

A sample sendmail.cf would be helpful, and any other sources of
information on the subject or helpful hints, suggestions etc.

Thanks in advance.

Ps.  If possible, please send all replies to my email address of

Cheers
Geoff

Fetching is not something for sendmail. You should use programs such as
popclient to fetch your mail from your isp.

Geoff,

One way to do this is to use a POP client to fetch your mail from
the server (I assume your ISP queues it up when you're not logged in)
and use sendmail to send mail out.

There are several versions of POP, ask your ISP if they're using
a POP server and which one.

As some other posters have said, pop will solve your problems.  However,
u could get the ISP (GIL) to forward mail to your box (it would be queued
when u r not online).  I've found the default redhat sendmail.cf does this
fine.

1. Problem w/ X, Apple Multiple Scan 15 will not configure correctly in Xconfigurator

I open up Xconfigurator and go to custom ( I already tried generic and that
did not work) I input the specs that I got from Apple's Support site and
Xconfigurator gives me an error and it tells me that there is a problem and
that I must go back and change it.  Is there anyway I can get a Linux Driver
for my Mac Monitor?  If not, what can I do to get it to work.
