I hope I haven't cross-posted this too much, please feel free to
enlighten me otherwise.
I've had Linux running on my old 486 for 4 years now, and recently
inherited a 133 Mhz Pentium from a bankrupt former employer. It has
no documentation and I doubt I could get any from where the PC came
from :-)
I have X runnig, but I bet I could get more out of the monitor. Does
anyone have specs on a Proton GM-1764?
The Ethernet card is a mystery. I opened up the box and all I could
find on the card is "CE", and one chip which says "UMC - UM9008F".
The sound card also has "CE" on it, and teh chips say "ESS AudioDrive".
The dang PC came with Winnows 95, and much to my regret, I installed
Linux before thinking to nose around and find out what Winnows thought
it had for the Ethernet and sound card.
Any help identifying these components, *especially* the Ethernet card,
would be much appreciated. One cheap PC for a months pay sure isn't
much!
