It means it didn't find a disk.  Is your chain terminated correctly?

<4>hdc:ultra-24f;500mb w/64kbcache,chs=500/64/32
<4>hdc:Invalid geometry;64 physical heads?
<4>hdd:ultra-24f,638MB w/64kbchache,chs=638/64/32
<4>hdd:invalid geometry;64 physical heads?
<6>floppy drive(s):fd0 is 1.44M, fd1 is 1.2 M
<6>Md driver 0.35 MAX_MD_DEV=4,MAX_REAL=8
<4>scsi:0 Hosts
<4>scsi:detected total.
<4>partition check:
<5>ramdisk : compressed image found at boot block 0
<4>vfs:mounted boot (ext2 filesystem)

seems like redhat does not like the ultrastor 24f scsi card

1. Need help getting Red Hat 5.1 to see my SCSI CD-ROM

I have an IBM PC 350 where I need to install Linux. The system uses an
Options by IBM ISA SCSI controler (rebaged Future Domain 16x0) to
support 1 hard drive and the CD-ROM.

When I boot the install disk and select "local CD-ROM" install method, I
can't get linux to see the CD-ROM.  I select to specify the options,
supply the IO port, IRQ and bios base address.  I see activity on the
CD-ROM drive and then get an error message.

The error states that the mount for /dev/scd0 failed and a block device
is required. I could sure use some help getting the propper incantation
for this controler/CD-ROM.

I registered my copy of Red Hat 5.1 and opened a problem ticket on the
Red Hat web page, but that has been over two weeks and still no
response.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Les.
