X Setup for Toshiba laptop?

Hi,

I've been having lots of trouble getting a working X configuration for
my Toshiba
Tecra 700CT laptop.  It uses the Chip & Tech. 65548PCI video card, and a
colour
LCD display but I have no idea what the specs are.  In Windows 95 I can
get 800x480
and 16bit colour, under X I get a blank screen, not even XF86Setup
works.

If anyone has got something working on one of these laptops, could you
please help me
out?

I forgot to mention that I'm also having trouble with the mouse!  It's
not a normal mouse,
in that it's built into the computer and doesn't appear to be attached
to a serial port.

I have no idea how to configure X to recognise this device.  Any help or
ideas would
be appreciated.  (It's a Toshiba Tecra 700CT).

Hi Steven,

Some time ago I set up a Tecra720CDT (with ct65545), perhaps my
XF86Config-file will help you. But you have to be carefull. The
720 can run 1024x768 the 700 cannot. So make some changes to the
file!

The mouse to use is a PS/2. There have been some problems when
useing the pcmcia-package with the tecra because the mouse and
some older revisions of the pcmcia-driver where both using
IRQ12 so the X-server could not start when pcmcia was running
(mouse-device not available). You should use pcmcia-2.9.1 or higher.
