Post by Metodi Filipo » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

I have installed Mandrake 7
After reboot I can't mount my cdrom "HP Writer Plus 9100"

I have tried following

/bin/mount -t iso9660 -o exec,dev,suid,rw /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

and I've got error

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom
or too many mounted file systems
return 32

what this mean

I have a kind of "reverse" problem with Mandrake 7.0 :
I can't mount the mandrake partition on a Redhat 5.2 system.
Is there a solution ?

1. Still problems installing Mandrake 7.02 from CDROM (burned ISO file)

With me installation of 7.02 keeps stopping at the moment it should install
the packages! Then it says, that it can't find the packages ; there is no
CDROM activity at that moment: install fails, obviously.
   But,
when I make a HD.img diskette and I put the files from the ISO file on HD
(with WinImage),  installation goes fine with no problems!!!
Something must went wrong, or in the making of the CDROM.img diskette (made
under DOS!) or in the making of the CD from (the correct checked summed!)
ISO file (6 times I tried with EZCD creator and Nero: 6 coasters). But what?

See also the answer from Mandrake Site on this very issue:

"I have filed this as a bug report, but we currently do not know what to do
with it :-(. Obviously you have supported hardware, since you got it
installed from HD, and if you simply burned the ISO image as it is, there
should be no problem with symlinks on CD either (typical problem when
burning under windows). No idea at the moment, sorry

Again, what can be the cause of this phenomenon?

Perhaps, it is the very fact that I have SCSI (symbios) CDROM (plextor 40
max), that it don't wanna read when it comes to installing the packages
(before that: no problem in reading the CDROM).

Rob
