Very Computer

I did not modify my services file and began to receive this error.
I've triied to track it down and in the process it now appears more often.
I'm still able to use all of my networking services but they give me
this error and hang momentarily before continuing.

Do I need to upgrade/remove some outdated/conflicting service?
Any pointers/ideas? My head is starting to hurt from all the beating.

The problem lies with your /etc/hosts.allow add this:

portmap: IP.ADDRESS.OF.REMOTE.MACHINE

if that doesnt work then you'll have to re-edit your /etc/exports and re-start
the rpc.nfsd.
