Hi,

I just wanted to install LILO on my hard-disk, but the following error occurs:

: LILO version 0.16, Copyright 1992-1995 Werner Almesberger
:
: Reading boot sector from /dev/hda
: Merging with /boot/boot.b
: Device 0x0302: BIOS drive 0x80, 16 heads, 2112 cylinders,
:                63 sectors. Partition offset: 1031184 sectors.
: geo_comp_addr: Cylinder number is too big (1061 > 1023)

I'm using a quantum hard disk (1 GB, 2112 cylinders)
btw. how can i make the backspace key work as backspace and not as delete ???

thanx !

Martin

Take a look at:
http://home.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/1.1/faq_navx.html#x12

Problem #5 talks about this.  I got xkeycaps.  Ran it to change
the definition of the BACKSPACE key.  This program outputs to
stdout.  I captured it and saved it to a file named .xmodmaprc
in my home directory.  In my .login file I put "xmodmap .xmodmaprc".

1. PS/2 Installation problems w/lilo

I've been trying to get the PS/2 version of Linux up and running on my
machine and I just can't seem to get it to load from lilo...!
The whole thing worked just fine as far as partitioning and formating the
drive and installing the files onto /dev/ed1, but lilo won't load it up.
When I reboot the computer it just hangs--not even a "L" or "LI" or
anything that could be a hint from lilo...  I can use the ps/2 bootdisk
and mount my /dev/ed1 partition, however.  All my files are waiting there
for me, but it wont boot from that partition.  Would it be that the
Master Boot Record isn't being read?  Would it be possible to mount from
a floppy w/ lilo?  Any suggesions would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff Halverson

p.s.  I do have linux set up on another non-ps/2 machine, so I am
somewhat familiar with was is supposed to happen during installation...?
