Canon BJ200e + gs = problem

Canon BJ200e + gs = problem

Post by Glenn Swans » Wed, 18 Oct 1995 04:00:00

I'm using ghostscript to print .ps files to my BJ200e printer using the
BJ200 driver.  The graphics look great, but the line spacing is too big,
leaving white gaps in the output.

I tried setting the line spacing to 8/72 inches by sending the appropriate
commands to the printer before each file
  ie. ESC + "A" + CHR(8) + CHR(27) + "2"
but that had no effect.  I'm guessing gs must explicitly set the line
spacing itself, overriding what I set it to.

I've read the faqs, howtos, newsgroups... but found nothing that would
work.

Here's my printcap file:
  lp: \
    :lp=/dev/lp1: \
    :sd=/usr/spool/lp1: \
    :lf=/usr/spool/lp1/errs: \
    :if=/usr/spool/lpd/ps/ps2bj200.if \
    :mx#0: \
    :sh: \
    :sf:

This is my input filter:
  #!/bin/sh
  /usr/bin/gs -q -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -r300 -sDEVICE=bj200 \
              -sOutputFile=- -

Any ideas???

Thanks in advance...

Don Carter.

Think, your problem is there :          ||||||

The BJ200 has a resolution of 360 DPI. Change the resolution and
hopefully you will be happy.

1. BJ200e--> GS skips lines

I have a standard bj200e (canon)... When I use it to print anything (most
noticibly graphics or large fonts) it appears to "skip lines".  That is,
there are horizontal bands of white (all the way through my Linux Inside
logo.. damn)

If anyone has this printer working properly with linux, let me know..

TIA,
jbf
