Sendmail mailertable-problems

Post by Marco Davi » Fri, 23 May 1997 04:00:00

I've tried to configure sendmail 8.7.5 on a Linux kernel 2.0 system with
the mailertable option.

The mailertable.txt looks like this:
the.host.com    smtp:[192.168.123.321]

Then I did: makemap dbm mailertable < mailertable.txt in /etc

The result is a mailertable.dir and a mailertable.pag file.

So far so good...

I've also deleted all the remarks in the sendmail.cf file where I
found the phrase "mailertable".

Still, when I try things out I get these messages:

May 22 13:50:14 test1 sendmail[8803]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root):
cannot lockf(/etc/mailertable.dir, fd=3, type=10, omode=37777777777, euid=0):
Device or resource busy

Does anyone know what's going wrong ???

The file-ownerships etc. are like this:

-rw-r--r--   2 root     root        12321 May 22 13:44 /etc/mailertable.dir
-rw-r--r--   2 root     root        12321 May 22 13:44 /etc/mailertable.pag

Please send me a copy of your reply by E-mail, to make sure I don't miss it!

1. OpenBSD 3.3 sendmail mailertable problem

Hi,

i have a problem in OpenBSD 3.3 with sendmail and the mailertable.

I defined in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf and /etc/mail/submit.cf the following
entry:

Kmailertable hash /etc/mail/mailertable.db

The /etc/mail/mailertable looks like this:

t-online.de    smtp:[smtprelay.t-online.de]

I generate /etc/mail/mailertable.db like this:

[from /etc/mail]

makemap hash mailertable < mailertable

Instead of relaying this mail to the relay specified in mailertable it still
uses a host resolved from the MX record for t-online.de.

Can somebody tell me what i did wrong and how to do it right ???
