Just finished installing Slackware96.  Will be using it as a
majordomo, web server, and email gateway.

Heres my configuration:

Cyrix 6x86 150P+
32 mb RAM
1 EIDE 1.27 g Seagate
1 SCSI-2 2/4 g tape drive
1 SCSI-2 2x CDROM
1 SCSI-2 1.0 g IBM
Adaptec (FD1680) SCSI2 PCI
#9 Motion 531 S3 Video PCI
Cardinal 288i modem ISA

Everything is working fine.

A buddy of mine will be installing a Linux Cyrix 6x86 120P+ and 5x85
120 this weekend.

I am using Linux with 129MZ Cyrix 6x86... runs beautifully, and
it is really very very fast......

I have as of yet had no problems at all with the chip.

Regards,

Fraser

Cyrix works just fine, with anything.
Allthough it's "optimized for 32 bits", though, it is reported that
the Cyrix 150 ("200+")will lag behind his "peer" the pentium pro 200,
running windows NT. and only NT.
(PC Computing /sept)
As a hybrid architecture, the 686 has "a foot in both worlds"...

1. Cyrix 6x86, motherboard, Linux...

There is a local retail shop selling a Cyrix 6x86-P150+ for $459 (!) with a
PCI motherboard.  I use Linux extensivly on my old i486DX-50, and I don't
think I could part with it.  Will Linux run on these new processors/
motherboards??? Would there be any [in]compatibility problems??? Would I need
to patch the kernel for them at all??? (Like the 5x86's did)

Thanx,
Adam Fritzler
