Very Computer

Dear Linuxers,

I get the message:

xconq: can't load library '//libX11.so.3'
        no such library

whenver i try to run xconq, and a similar message from xtoolplaces or owplaces,
and require help to alleviate this.

Any of you aficionados familiar with such a problem?  I'm running X11 v. 3.1.1
over Linux v.1.2.13, compiled over the slackware version that came with 1.2.8.

Can someone please help me, as I need an excuse not to work on my minor
proposition.

BTW, i have seen this question posted before, but it wasn't (IMO) answered
sufficiently, something about someone having seen that when some elf files were
missing.  Or am i completely wrong???
