making an exe file from a foxpro file

I have foxpro 1.02 for dos. I would be willing to get another version of
foxpro, including visual foxpro, professional, etc. I would appreciate
knowing what I need to generate a stand alone exe file? Do I need a
distribution kit? Do I need a developers kit? Would the professional
version allow generation of an exe file? Thanks in advance. Ken.

Version 1.02?  I thought still programming FP 2.5 for DOS made me an
anachronism.  Briefly, a distribution kit that let you distribute
applications as standalone EXE files was available for 2.5 for DOS.  When
2.6 came out I think you had to get the appropriate professional version
to make EXE files in the DOS or Windows version.  There is a professional
version of VFP that allows you to distribute standalone applications from
that release of FP.  I doubt you can still buy a 2.6 Professional version
but I've heard that people who buy VFP Professional can get a downgrade
to 2.6 for the price of the disks.

You need the Pro type for any platform to generate a distributable
.exe. It includes all the distr. kit, etc.

making an exe file from a foxpro file

Ron, forgive me for asking a question right off the bat, but I am unable
to make a standalone, am on a deadline, and need help.

I'm using FPW26.
My program starts with a .prg file, calls a menu, which then calls
assorted screens.  Works great.

When I make a standalone, it goes through fine, makes the compression
directories, makes the disks, and seems fine.
Using the disks, it self-installs perfectly under windows as it should,
and all appears well.

Running it however, is a different story.
It goes in, loads, then kicks right back out to windows.

I have been told this is a foundation read problem, and I need to make
one.
Regardless of what I try, though, nothing seems to work.
I should add, I do not understand the foundation read, though I know
vaguely what it is supposed to be doing....

I can always just supply FoxPro with my programs, but this is a terrible
way to go, and embarrasing to say the least, when it should run by
itself.

I'm really not a dummy, (numerous copyrights, etc) but I sure feel like
one in this circumstance.... any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for any info you can pass along,....
