The XML/A provider uses the MSXML 3 class IDs. As long as it is installed,
the MSXML4 installation will not affect it -- MSXML4 always installs in
replace mode (with different class IDs).
I don't understand which machine you are calling the client and the
server -- but above is how the XML/A machine should work. A different
machine connecting to XML/A would depend on whatever application the client
application is using. If the client application is one of the samples then
they too reference MSXML 3 and would require it to be installed.
