date format with Ingres Gateway to Oracle - quite in a hurry

Post by Armand Pir » Fri, 24 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Hi guys,

I am using IngresII on SCO Unix, and Oracle 8 on NT. On the NT box I
installed Ingres Gateway for Oracle. So far so good,
but if I am using II_DATE_FORMAT MULTINATIONAL4, it doesn't work against
Oracle and when sql node::db/oracle, I receive:
Communications Error: An unsupported GCA message was received
GCA_DATE_FORMAT(DB_MLT4_DFMT) (E_GX008A)
(Thu Dec 23 07:38:13 1999)

Any ideeas why? The Gateway documentation says that MULTINATIONAL4 is
supported.

Thanks in advance.

date format with Ingres Gateway to Oracle - quite in a hurry

As an addition,

My purpose is to see on Ingres the date dd/mm/yyyy (as from inserts and
selects) and to be able to insert date data types in Oracle through the
Gateway for having the same format.

Thank you very much.

1. Oracle date format to Paradox date

Hello,

I have a problem viewing a date field in an Oracle table through
Paradox. I have the SQL Linker to allow Paradox to access Oracle tables.
The table I am trying to access contains a date field called time_called
which has the date and time. When I open the table in Paradox,
time_called is empty.  It said that the time is invalid.  I can see the
rest of the fields find. What is wrong? Doesn't Paradox recognize that
it's an Oracle date?

        Thank you.
