How can I "lookup" a "summary field" from an "external file" in FileMaker Pro 2.1? Any help would be greatley appreciated.

Summary fields in FMP2.1 can not be used in a lookup situation as the
summary field is a "group" of records, not just one.
What you can do is sort the report (tick the include summary fields and
include the target summary field in the sort) and then export the info to
a text file.
From their you can import the data into your target file.
If one does this on a regular basis, you can script the procedure.

Here's another FileMaker Pro 2.1 quesiton...
How can one get an average of multiple summary fields? In other words, I have some summary fileds and I want to average them. Any suggestions.

1. PC Filemaker Pro v3 file to Mac Filemaker Pro 2.1
I had the same delema but lost only replacable stuff. Went from MAC FMP 2.0 at
one job to PC FMP 3.0. Didn't recover any thing.
However I didn't think about exporting to yet another program.
If FMP 2.0 can export to excel try that and then try importing the excel file.
