Btrieve DB access from MS Access 97 application

Post by Roger Hune » Tue, 18 Aug 1998 04:00:00

Greetings!

I am writing an MS Access 97 application that needs to access a
Btrieve database on a NetWare server.

Q: what software do I need to do this?

Regards,
-Roger

Btrieve DB access from MS Access 97 application

You could use ODBC drivers (I would recommend www.intersolv.com for Btrieve
6.15 and www.pervasive.com itself for Pervasive SQL 7.0

Or maybe (I don't know) it is possible to use ActiveX controls in access,
you could use the ones from www.smithware.com (recently bought by
Pervasive).

I'm afraid you are wrong.
1. You don't need Scalable SQL on a server to establish an ODBC-connection.
2. ODBC isn't slow. You can see this clearly, if you create a pass-through query
from MS-Access.
3. The Classic Data Controls aren't as good as Smithware's.
