pcVerse update from the source

I have noticed discussions recently in the newsgroup regarding pcVerse. I
am the Executive Vice President and COO of Profile Solutions, the creator
of pcVerse, and wish to set the record straight on a few issues.

First, pcVerse is real. It is shipping for Windows 95 and OS/2.

Second, it is UniVerse. We ported Vmark's 7.3.1 source to Win95 and OS/2.

Third, DOS, Windows 3.1 and Network versions are ETA within 90 days.

Fourth, We have many happy users and reference sites upon request.

Fifth, Read about our successes in the June issue of News and Review.

I welcome conversations and comments in this news group or in person. I

One final comment, I hope that the people that have spoken negatively
about pcVerse will take the time to speak with me or to try the product
prior to additional unfounded comments being posted.

I will also take phone calls at (800) 835-2400.

Is there a WWW site/homepage with more info  for us non-US "viewers" who
can't dial 1-800 numbers?

Thanks,
David.

Sounds Intriguing. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. I presume this
means we can run Universe on my Win 95 PC alongside everything else I do on
the desktop - *AND* I also presume it's not a DOS product running in Windows
!!

Thanks,

Francis.

Windows

Its not bad. Using version 1.1 for win95, I moved files over from my
motorola 88100 without many problems (remember if you are currently on
a non-intel box to do a funix -x to the file before you move it.  The
procs and programs seem to run without any problems and someone I know
says it appears faster then sco-unix/universe.

But

You do have to run it from the dos prompt
it makes your nice multi color screen look just like an old viewpoint
and you better not have any fancy uses for the spooler (as the spooler
is not currently supported, yet).

regards, Roger Glenfield

How about a promo to hook all of us? Like a month-long offer to buy the
product REALLY inexpensively.  Then we'll all be hooked & will buy
upgrades & tell all our friends & even use it for some new development
ideas!

-----------------------------  Log Message  -----------------------------

Revise handling of oldstyle/newstyle functions per recent discussions
in pghackers list.  Support for oldstyle internal functions is gone
(no longer needed, since conversion is complete) and pg_language entry
'internal' now implies newstyle call convention.  pg_language entry
'newC' is gone; both old and newstyle dynamically loaded C functions
are now called language 'C'.  A newstyle function must be identified
by an associated info routine.  See src/backend/utils/fmgr/README.
