We would like to connect a Progress 8.3c on Windows NT with a third
application
using ODBC driver ver.3.60.00.00 from Merant. The server answered
"[MERANT][ODBC Progress driver][PROGRESS]A PROGRESS database server
can not handle a
non-progress database connection". I'd set the environment variables
IDLC,
DLC and PROMSGS, also an entry in services file. The mode of
connection "DIRECT" (database server in the same
comp. with the driver and the application).

Anybody has the same experience or can give me some hints ?

Well, as you'd suggested, I used proibrkr32 and proidrvr32 on other
port. When I tested the ODBC connection, it answered
"[Merant][ODBC Progress Driver][PROGRESS]The database broker cannot
handle Progress database connection.(2663)"

When I looked into prooidrv.lg, it was written that
"
12:02:21 OIBRKR  0: OIDRVR server is spawned. (1892)
12:02:21 OIDRVR     This broker will terminate when session ends. (5405)
12:02:21 OIDRVR     Start Open Interface Driver id: 352. (2581) "

and the message continue

"12:02:55 OIDRVR  0: Shutdown Open Interface Driver id: 352. (2582)"

when I closed the Microsoft message box.

I think that the connection was established, but why there is a message
saying "The database broker ...." ?

What do you think ?
