Arcserve - Btrieve 7.0 Maximums?

Arcserve - Btrieve 7.0 Maximums?

Post by D.L. » Sat, 04 Nov 2000 01:16:30

We have a dedicated server running NW 4.11/SP8a and
ArcserveIT 6.61 SP2 with Btreive 7 as it's database.
I understand the maximum number of records for this
setup is 25 million.  Also under NW4.11 the max file
size is 4GB (no suballocation).  Currently we are at
21 million records.  CA cannot seem to verify the 25
million number and I can't find any info on Pervasive's
website.

Will my dB stop at 25 million and refuse to insert more
records?

Thanks,

Arcserve - Btrieve 7.0 Maximums?

The record count limit is over 4 billion records, which should not be a
problem, but there is a file size limit which is more likely in some
cases.

From the server console, enter "LOAD BUTIL -STAT filename" where the
ARCserve database file (the largest, I presume) is the file provided.
1) If you see that the file is 6.x format, the maximum file size is 4GB.

2) If you see that the file is 7.x format, the maximum (logical) file
size is between 8GB to 64GB.  This will be accomplished by breaking the
logical file down to multiple 2GB physical files.
3) To determine actual maximum size, multiple the page size (reported by
the STAT call) by 2^24.

Arcserve - Btrieve 7.0 Maximums?

I seem to recall that some 5.x files would get damaged at 2GB, but I think
that may be with older 5.x engines.  Most should be OK up to 4GB.

1. Btrieve 7.0 & ArcServe

Hi group,

Some time ago I read somewhere that Cheyenne's ArcServe didn't support
Btrieve 7.0 (Persavive SQL) yet.

Does anybody know if they do by now. Or maybe better, does anyone has
experiences with the combination ArcServe and Btrieve 7.0?

Thanks....

Cheers,
Rob.
