You don't need multiple machines. We have customers running databases like that
on one Sequoia machine (a very big one, but still, a single system). No need
for remote Q-pointers. Give us a call.

As author of uvNet, I can say that as some future release distributed
files will be supported by uvNet.  I am not positive what release that will be.

Todd is just being modest.  As Director of R & D, I can say when that
will be.  It will be with uvNet release 2.  There are some things you
need to know about uvNet release 2.

Release 2 is a major rewrite.  It changes the fundamental architecture of
uvNet in ways which greatly improve performance and stability.  Release 2 of
uvNet will only work with release 7.3.2 of uniVerse.  Release 2 will NOT
talk with release 1.  If a network is upgraded, it can not be done one node
at a time.  (Sorry, it just wasn't possible to avoid this.)

Both uniVerse 7.3.2 and uvNet 2 are scheduled for 4th quarter availability.

As author of Distributed Files, I can say that distributed files on remote
machines will be accessible (through uvNet) at release 7.3.2. It may be
restricted to homogenous networks.

1. FPW 26 Dist. Kit Files

Hello,

When I tried to install my foxprow 26 on a new machine, the set-up program
failed.

When it came to installing the set up, the first thing that happened was
that the file fpw2600.e1_ could not be opened. I assumed it must have been
corrupted, so I compressed fpw2600.esl, which I had and renamed it *.e1_
.... this didn't work.

I went through the rest of the install, selecting only one feature at a
time.
The file graph.ex_ from disk 3 was corrupt and also uiguide.mv_ from disk 4

Can you tell me where I can source these 3 corrupt files ?

I will be much obliged to you.

Brian.
