In FoxPro 2.5, what command is used to make a particular get field be selected upon
entry to a screen?

By default, the first defined "get" will receive the initial focus.  You
can redirect this to any desired object from within your "read" command,
by adding an object clause.  i.e.
Read ..... Object 3

You could use the following approach from the when snippet of the read:

_curobj= objnum('<the name of your field'>)

Or you could play with the order system of the screen generator (if
think it would be under screen/field order on the sysmenu).  The logic
takes a while to get used to!

Put this in the READ WHEN clause:

 _curobj=objnum(<field>)

where <field> is the name of the field you want selected.  For example:

 _curobj = objnum(city)

would make the CITY field be selected upon entering the screen.

BTW to get to the READ WHEN clause pull down the SCREEN menu and select SCREEN
LAYOUT, then click on the WHEN checkbox.
