Access 2000 crashes with Windows 2000 Professional

I have an Access 2000 database that pulls information from
a Borland Engine DB5 database.  I only do filtering and
reporting, no changing of data.  This database performs
fine on a laptop with Windows ME.  It won't work on the
desktop running Windows 2000 Professional. It crashes,
with one of the following error messages "MSACCESS.exe has
generated errors and will be closed by Windows.  You will
need to restart the program.  An error log is being
created." or "The instruction at '0x77fc9baO' referenced
memory at '0xeb65e41f'. The memory could not
be 'written'."
Steps I have already tried: (1)registering dao files and
changing the dao file; (2)formatting drive, loading
Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 2, then Office
2000 Professional. (3)formatting drive, loading Windows
2000 Professional, then Office 2000 Professional without
the Service Pack. (4)calling Microsoft. Because it
involves VBA, they will charge $200.  Since we are a
church, that is a problem.
Meanwhile I'm running the reports from the Windows ME
laptop.
