Files needed for .EXE files

Files needed for .EXE files

Post by cherbi » Wed, 15 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Hi,
Please, can anybody tell me what files are needed (.dll or others) and
where should I copy them, to make a standalone .EXE file (built from an
APP file under FoxPro 2.6 for Windows) run on a computer that do not
have installed FoxPro?

Thank you,
Florin Cherbis

Files needed for .EXE files

Florin,
You only need Foxw2600.esl, and it can be in the application subdirectory,
or anywhere in the DOS path. If you make use of Foxtools.fll, then you'll
need to supply that also. Note: Make sure that the version of Foxw2600.esl
is the same as the one used to create the .EXE (i.e. both should be either
2.6 or 2.6a).

For FPW executable you need only FOXW2600.ESL, plus any libraries that you use.

1. Does user need Microsoft Access License to use EXE file that access .MDB file

Thanks for the comments, Pad.

But I believe many here like to be more clear about your saying.

I agree that the "programer /developer" must have ligitmate VB6 and Access
license.
So to develope the application.  The application use VB 6 ODBC Data Access
library to store/retrieve data from .MDB file.

Can the developer/programmer, legitimately pass this compiled .EXE file and
its associated .MDB file to others who do not have the VB6, Access license
in it ?

Where should such question goes to ?

Thanks

Meng
