Looking for a cross platform OODB, for MACs, OS/2 and UNIX

Fellow netters,

I am looking for an object oriented database that runs on several
platforms (the most important ones being Apple Macintosh, OS/2 and AIX).
I would prefer databases that do not have runtime licensing requirements,
we would be willing to evaluate other databases too.

Any and all responses regarding this matter appreciated.

Thanx,

Raj.

1. Cross OS platform migration experience?

I will soon be involved in a project that is going
to involve "cross OS migragtion/upgrade" of Sybase servers.
Does anyone have any experience in this?

We will be moving System 10 servers from AIX to Solaris
and upgrading to System 11.

My current thoughs are to:
- create a System 10  backup server on Solaris and
dump the databases to it from the AIX servers,
- restore the Solaris dumps to a Solaris System 10 server,
- upgrade the Solaris System 10 to System 11

Does this sound feasible?
Any helpfull thoughts/comments/suggestions/white paper/docs
are appreciated.
