Our university dept purchased the VFP 5.0a and we have it now. I am
planning to buy one for my home use and the university bookstore (where
I am buying the Prof. edition for $89.00) said that the new version is
coming out at the end of this month. So, if I buy the VFP 6.0, and
program things in it, could I bring that 6.0 programs to my work, which
has the 5.0a? OR, should I better off buying the 5.0a and stay with it
(possibly avoid the 6.0 bugs if any)????????

As long as you don't use any VFP 6.0 specific commands, functions, etc,
you'll be fine. You'll need to recompile class libraries, databases, and
forms.
