I thought that OSA 1.5.2.x could utilize the Relational Access Manager to
access data from an ODBC source, providing it was in a star/snowflake schema.

Hi Paul,

Remember me from Waltham, April ?  Anyway, yes, the data cen
be STORED in a relational (datawarehouse) database, but OSA always
needs Express.  In this case, Express generates the SQL statements to
retrieve the data into a read-only OSA database.

Hope this helps,

One of my colleagues in Switzerland has used RAM/RAA with OSA to access data
stored in an oracle RDBMS. *NO* data (ie numbers) was stored permanently in
the Express environment. (Though the Express engine is still needed for the
middle tier of the architecture).

Apparently user performance was good. Obviously OSA build times were
negligible as only the structures/hierarchies were needed in Express

Even if you store your data in a relational database, there is still an
Express Server component of OSA.  You can't run OSA without Express Server.
I thought that was the question being asked.
