trying to close table iirel_idx:bad file number (unix error 9)

Post by Pinn, Hans - D05.2 » Sat, 19 May 2001 16:12:55

Hi, have s.b. seen this error? Do we have to search for an error on the
database or is it a genuine Unix-Error?
Thanks, Hans

Nothing unusual in the log beforehand? This "error" usually
means that the application has tried to reference a file that
is not open, or that an application r/w request has tried to
reference a file not open for r/w (note, the "application"
seems to be trying to close the file). *Might* be worth a
quick look at the file indicated (/ingresdata1/ingres/data/
default/iidbdb/aaaaaaac.t00). A quick shufty in the iidbms.log
(if you use it) may glean extra info, you never know.

Richard.

 There's a coincidence.

I got something similar this morning.
At 5:51 AM, Ingres reported a 'disk file close error' on the configuration
file for iidbdb (aaaaaaaa.cnf)from one of the 9 DBMS servers.
Needless to say, the Server went bye-bye and brought down the whole
installation.

I'm packaging all the logs and stuff before I open an issue with CA.
