What's status of ISO's RDA (remote database access)

Post by David Richa » Wed, 20 Nov 1991 02:40:25

Hi Folks,

Can someone please tell me what the status is for
ISO's work on Remote Database Access?  Last I heard,
it was still in draft proposal.  Any dates on when
it might become an International Standard (IS)?
Also, has ISO assigned permanent identifiers for the
RDA documents yet?

By the way, has CCITT enveloped this work?  If so,
what's the CCITT identifiers for their equivalent
documents?

Appreciate any info!

Regards,

David Richard

Votes are currently being solicited for the transition from DIS to IS.
The two parts that I know of (mainly because they happened to pass
across my desk yesterday) are:

  Remote Data Base Access
     - Part 1: Generic Model, Service and Protocol (ISO/IEC/DIS 9579-1)
     - Part 2: SQL Specialisation (ISO/IEC/DIS 9579-2)

Our local standards body wants comments back by 24 February.

Funny, I recently asked a similar question on this newsgroup and didn't
get much for responses.  RDA - Part I: Generic Model, Service and Protocol,
ISO/IEC Draft Proposal 9579-1, July 15, 1990.  RDA - Part 2: SQL
Specialization, ISO/IEC Draft Proposal 9579-2, July 15, 1990.  Both are
at the 2nd draft proposal stage and June 1992 is the date scheduled
for becoming an International standard.  Not sure if 9579 is a permanent
number.

From what I heard, SQL Access Group and X/Open have utilized RDA but the
question is to what entent?  Is this correct?

1. Remote Database Access (ISO RDA)

    Hi everybody

I am new to this group.

I am implementing an API using RDA standard on a sybase database.

I am facing some problems in passing the right parameters as defined in the
standard mentioned above.

If somebody did the same thing, please let me know.

Any hints and pointers are greatly appreciated.
