Installing Pervasive ServicePack2

Installing Pervasive ServicePack2

Post by Paul A. Durnof » Wed, 21 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hello !

We have problem with Service Pack 2 for Pervasive.SQL on Win95 client.
Updated Pervasive.SQL server (NT 4.0) works without problems.
After updating the client PC -- SQLScope doesn't work (ends with GPF). All
Pervasive ODBC data sources doesn't work too.
I have discovered that deleting the w1mif106.dll makes SQLScope work well
(with w1mif104.dll) and
changing w32btint.dll to old version (service pack 1) restores ODBC
datasources.
Can anybody explain -- is it our mistakes or bugs in Pervasive
ServicePack2?
Has anybody a experience installing SP2?

All comments would be thankful !

Paul,

It seems that you have hit upon an issue currently under testing here
at Pervasive.  In fact I forwarded your email to one of the SP2
testing engineers and he was grateful for the hint you included
regarding the w1mif106.dll and the w32btint.  He suggested you have
your own fix for the time being, that is until this issue can be
further sorted out.  In the mean time, it is my understanding that SP2
is being called back in for re-evaluation.

If you jave further questions regarding this or any other Pervasive
product, please feel free to direct your inquiries to:

1. MSDE servicepack2 addnew update problem

Anybody please help!

I am writing do a database using ADO AddNew Update, using MSDE as a
temporary database engine.  This has worked fine for a long time,
however, as I upgraded the MSDE with service pack 2, my code seems
broken.

This fails whether I am using Visual C++ or Visual Basic and even with
the examples that are included in Microsoft documentation on adding
records to the pubs database.  Update fails with
Run-time error '-2147217887 (80040e21)': Errors occurred.

SQL INSERT INTO still works fine.

According to KB article Q189220 there are some problems in some
contexts with AddNew and shaping of SQL queries.  However, if I trace
the queries using the profiler, it does not even use SQL insert to add
fields to the database, but some other script language.  Neither does
it seem to help to relabel my columns.

To access the database, I am using the SQLOLEDB driver.

Suggestions anyone?
