Hello All,

Is ASP Linux 7.3 (kernel 2.4.20 or kernel 2.4.18) + gr _ patch (project
http: // www.openwall.com/linux /)

I try to install DB2 8.1. Has started startx. Has started a console. Has
started ./db2setup.
Answered all questions and has pressed the button of Finish. There was
an installation process DB2.
On its ending I see, that on what that there could not be DB2INSTANCE.
From behind it as there could not be a system base SYSTOOLS.
Question: What to do ?

Broad gullies of this installation are indicated below:

======db2icrt.log.2501=========================
       Program name = db2idbm
Instance home dir = /home/db2inst2,   Sysadm group = db2grp1
Instance type = 3,  Auth type = SERVER

/opt/IBM/db2/V8.1/instance/db2idbm: db2: command not found
Update DBM cfg SYSADM_GROUP errcode = 127
DBI1281E The database manager configuration file could not be
          initialized.

Explanation:

An error occurred when attempting to initialize the database
manager configuration file. A DB2 instance could not be created
or migrated.

User Response:

Refer to the log file for problem determination. Resolve the
problem and try the command again. If the problem persists,
please contact IBM Support.

DBI1079I Output is saved in the log file /tmp/db2icrt.log.2501.

Explanation:

All processed and failed operations have been saved into this log
file.

User Response:

Do not modify this file in any way. This file is for IBM
Technical Support reference.

Problems with installation DB2 UDB 8.1 WE for Linux

Post by Philip Nelso » Mon, 23 Jun 2003 07:24:13

Tolik,

What value do you have for kernel variable msgmni ?

cat /proc/sys/kernel/msgmni

It may be too small to allow DB2 processes to run.

Suggest setting it to (at least) 1024 -

echo "1024" >/proc/sys/kernel/msgmni

To make this change permanent you'd need to add this command into your
startup scripts (or rebuild the kernel after editing the appropriate .h
file).
