Redundant Array of Inexpensive Computers

Filmaker states, "               Set up a RAIC by adding more copies
                                           of FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited
to
                                           provide scalable load
balancing and
                                           fault
tolerance.                                      "

The graphic then shows a one to one relationship between web browsers
and RAIC computers behind a web server and in front of a filemaker
Server.

Has anyone tried this, and if they have, how does its performance
compare to a Lasso based system or professional system such as Oracle.

Has anyone used the apache server as a secure layer.  Does it make all
data transfers secure?

I have set up a RAIC. I don't have any benchmarks.

No data is returned from the web companion to the users browser. If SSL is
implemented correctly on apache your data will be secure.

1. RAID (Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks)

I am intrigued by this technology.  If anyone has information that I
possibly can't find in yer average PC Week, please let me know.  I am
particularly interested  in market information:  who the players are;
market share distribution;  consumer profiles;  etc.

Please email, as I can't access this system often enough.

Thanks.
