Mac FileMaker Pro 2.1 Serial numbers problem

Mac FileMaker Pro 2.1 Serial numbers problem

Post by matti.. » Sat, 12 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Hi,
I' ve got serial numbers problem with Mac FileMaker Pro 2.1
installation on a LAN. As the previous System Manager didn't sign the
installation diskettes whenever he installed them, I'm not able to
recognize which are the installed ones. In this way I'm getting
several serial number violation errors whenever two users start
Filemaker with the same serial number. In order to define the serial
numbers definitively I have asked my reseller for a solution. He told
me that the executable FileMaker file contains the serial number and
that it should be revealed using ResEdit program, but he doesn't know
how and where to look for the correct ID to recognize it. Any
suggestion?

Thank you very much, Paolo Mattioli

If you have the site license numbers you need, just reinstall everyone
with correct numbers instead of trying to figure out who has the
duplicate ones.

He's wrong.  The serial numbers are not stored in the application.

Reinstall from scratch, noting which machines you installed which
copies on.

1. PC Filemaker Pro v3 file to Mac Filemaker Pro 2.1

I had the same delema but lost only replacable stuff. Went from MAC FMP 2.0 at
one job to PC FMP 3.0. Didn't recover any thing.
However I didn't think about exporting to yet another program.

If FMP 2.0 can export to excel try that and then try importing the excel file.
