Send Mail Script Step?

Send Mail Script Step?

Post by Bob Autre » Sat, 09 Nov 2002 06:50:18

I'm new to this NG and I need a little help. I'm sure this topic has been
discussed many times before so please don't flame me!  :-)

I'm using Filemaker 4.0v3 on a Mac running O/S 9.1. I've implemented the
"Send Mail Script Step", but when I run the script nothing happens?

Any pointers would sure be appreciated. I just know I must have overlooked
something stupid?

Bob

BTW... I'm trying to get the message to go to Eudora. It doesn't. The
Filemaker help file says I've got to be using Claris Emailer, Eudora Lite,
or Eudora Pro. Should I try to find "Eudora Lite"?

Have you specified Eudora as the default email application in the
Internet Preferences?

You might want to try www.smtpit.com to send directly from Filemaker
avoiding any other mail client at all.

Yep, check the Internet Control Panel (at the bottom of the Email
section) to make sure you've got Eudora set as the default application.
Eudora definitely works with FileMaker 4.x - I know, I've had it
working before.   :o)

The script will work with Eudora Pro, Sponsored Mode or Lite on your
configuration, but you have to set Eudora as the mailto helper in the
Internet control panel  (used to be InternetConfig) >Advanced tab >Helper
Apps.

1. Why is the send mail script step so flakey

I'm having trouble with Send Mail script step (FMP v6, Mac OS X 10.2)
giving up before the job is done.

I'm looping through the found set and sending a personalised email.
Looping through the records with a "send mail" script step seems easy
but this is too much for FMP->Eudora even with very small found sets
(68 records). The whole thing chokes at around the fortieth record. It
begins by failing to put the email address into the email field, so
Eudora throws up an error, and that's the end of the process.

Has anyone found a way past this?
