How to force print 'Current Record' and print 'Records Being Browsed'

Post by Lapha » Fri, 13 Jul 2001 04:10:07

Hi all,

Does anybody know how to force the printer so that if I am in one section it
prints just the current record being browsed and if I am in another section
it prints all the records being browsed.

I have created an FMP 5.0 Invoice DB and I want to print just the current
record when printing the invoice and print all the records being browsed
when printing a 'View as List' report of these invoices.

At the moment, I have it set to print Current Record and when I want to
print a report (or listing) I have to remember to change the printer setup
each time to records being browsed.  Failing to do this results in me
getting 1 line on my report (ie, the current record)  This is tedious and I
am sure there is a way round it on the Mac, but I'm using the PC version and
it's better to get one line on a report than accidentally print every
invoice being browsed.

Does anybody know of a script procedure or something to get round this???

Many thanks.

Regards

Laphan

This setting can be stored with the Print script step.  See "Creating a
script -- storing settings in the database" in the help file.

How to force print 'Current Record' and print 'Records Being Browsed'

Specifically, create two scripts... one with "print current record" and one
with "print all records" set, and then for example create a button on each
of the two layouts connected to the appropriate script.

1. Controlling 'Records being Browsed' printing

I have an application with about 80 different reports.  Some of the reports
are printed for one record, some for multiple records, and some for multiple
records in a related database.

I need to control the 'Records being browsed' and 'Current  Record' setting
in the print screen that appears prior to printing.  I still need access to
other features on that driver screen, so I can't simply do away with it.

Is there a way of controlling those settings within FMP or Applescript?  Any
info would be appreciated
