Newbie question, PDOX5, Set Report Filter from Form?

Post by Dennis Wats » Fri, 30 May 1997 04:00:00

I have a Paradox 5 form with a button that runs a report.  That works
OK, but I'd like the form to ask me to first enter a filter value and
then use that value when it runs the report.  The value I'm interested
in is the Date (I hope to default with the current date, too).

I've been pouring through the manuals and help files, but I haven't
been able to figure this one out.  Any help you offer will be very
much appreciated.

Use the QUERYSTRING parameter and specify a query that will filter the data
for you.

If you weren't a newbie I'd suggest you create a custom dialog box. As
it is, look at the view() function and you want use the today() function
to load it with the current default date. Convert the value returned by
view() to a string variable in you query preceded by a tilde.

1. Newbie question - report filters

I have a 3rd party product running on top of Paradox for windows 5.0.
This product will allow me to execute custom Paradox reports and scripts
from within the application.

I need to set up some custom reports that filter on a date field so they can
be run weekly or monthly.  I dont want to have to adjust this filter every
time I run the report.  I tried to use a filter like "> TODAY - 8"   but it
was not accepted.

How can I accomplish this?
Can a report be set up to prompt for an input parm that is a filter?
Can a script be set up to prompt for the input parm and pass it to the report?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations
