Win 95 + Paradox = GP 0000 AT PARADOX:28:1323 -- Leaving Paradox

Hello,
I'm getting Unexpected condition: GP 0000 AT PARADOX:28:1323 -- Leaving
Paradox whenever I try to run Paradox or Runtime both 4.5 DOS...HELP!

        I just bought a P120 with 32Mb of RAM and Win 95 r2.  I've installed
Paradox Runtime 4.5 (DOS) from floppy and copied over Paradox 4.5 (DOS)
from my old 486 , both of which I know work on the 486.   I noticed a few
similar requests on the group, but no answers.   I'd be very grateful if
anyone could share any pertinent information that might help to sort out
this little problem.

        Gratefully,
               Andy.C.

Just start Paradox with the "-extk" command-line parameter, to limit it's RAM
usage:

   PARADOX  -EXTK 8000 ...etc...etc...etc...

The above value must not exceed 16000 (or is it 16384 ?). Values of
6000/8000/12000 are recommended).

I believe that 'GP 0000' can categorically be described as what happens when
you have more than 16MB of memory available to Paradox.  The solution is to
specify the parameter, e.g. "-extk 15000" when you start the program.

Two things:

1. Start PdoxDOS with the command line switches to limit memory to 16MB

paradox.exe -extk 16000 -diag

2. It still may be flaky since Win95 is just plain flaky and has many
incompatibilities with Win95.

I fail to understand why anyone would purchase such a strong machine,
Pentium with 32MB RAM and then get a near worthless operating system
like Win95? Why do people do this? Dump Win95 and get NT.

I modified the memory tab of my DOS pif to not allow more than 4k of
extended memory and also put an X in the box under Program | Advance
button that disallows DOS programs from detecting Windows.  Once I did,
this the problem went away.

I hope this helps.

run pdox with

pdoxrun -extk 16000

It solves it!

1. Paradox 4.0 Error: Unexpected condition: GP 0000 at PARADOX:28:12d7

Hi!

I have a paradox 4.0 database runnig on a Intel 486 DX 33 MHz mashine, with
DOS 6.2 it haved run well but now its time for upgrade. Haved taked a
complete copy of the harddisk - placed it on a bigger mashine:

PII 350 Mhz maskine with same DOS version 6.2 of course, and the disk is
FAT16 formatted - The computer start without any problem, but when Paradox
is started I see the start menu - then the error: Unexpected condition: GP
0000 at PARADOX:28:12d7 - and then I am back in DOS again - and i am not
trying to load the database file, only run the paradox.exe file

I think is it because of the new CPU: PII there is problem, and if - where
can I find a fix for it - have someone seen it before?

Best, Regards Roy
