All:

Can anyone recommend any _recent_ publications/articles on the above
topic, particularly the strategies in use by the major OR vendors?

TIA

Akmal,

You might want want to check:

1. The Xml-Zone site has a lot of good info. The URL is:

   http://www.xml-zone.com

2. I would also check the vendor sites. Microsoft's is especially good:

   http://msdn.microsoft.com/xml/default.asp

Thank you very much! That's very useful. I guess one should also search
at Amazon, but there are just so many books on XML today and sometimes
titles are misleading, that it can be hard to find something
appropriate.

Akmal

I found an entertaining and informative web site on XML:

www.flixml.org

but it does not deal with databases, but the interfacing to a database is
relatively trivial and you should be able to figure it out yourself.

One place you could try is Microsoft - look for BizTalk, eCommerce and
Windows DNA.

Good Luck

1. SQL Server, The Repository, XML, Object Databases VS Relational (HELP)

Good Day,

I am the technical architect in the technology evaluation process for a
large project that will be using XML.

I have looked at SQL/Oracle (relational) and products like Poet, Verity
(Object) What database to use? Relational databases VS object databases
don't seem to measure up (we will be using very complex DTD's like
http://www.xmlxperts.com/12083.htm - ISO 12083). And storing information in
relational databases with very complex metadata will be extremely difficult
and processor intensive for content delivery.

I have looked at tools like the Microsoft Repository hoping that it would
increase my chances of using Microsoft based tools. Currently I am not
convinced that SQL Server and the Repository will assist completely.(please
someone tell me differently). I was hoping that there was documentation that
outlined case studies this area. My goals are to remain in the Microsoft
framework to deliver this web application and allow for Windows 2000 and SQL
2000 upgrade in the future.

I hope that there is someone out there that will be able to give me some
direction.

Thanks
