Assert Failure on I-Star from 7.31 to 5.10

Assert Failure on I-Star from 7.31 to 5.10

Post by Scott Hupper » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

We recently upgraded to 7.31.UC5 from 7.30.UC10.  When attempting to I-Star
from the 7.31 box to a 5.10.UD1 box it assert fails.  This occurs on very

7.31 and from 7.31 to 7.31 without problems.  I was also able to reproduce
this when attempting to create a synonym.

The client gets the following back before the assert failure:
Unable to open input file 's'
Unable to open input file 'c'
Bad file number  nnection is broken.

The af file is not very helpful:
10:09:33  Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UC5
10:09:33  Assert Failed: No Exception Handler

                Thread(39, sqlexec, b04e28c, 1)
                File: mtex.c Line: 446
10:09:33   Results: Exception Caught. Type: MT_EX_OS, Context: mem
10:09:33   Action: Please notify Informix Technical Support.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Platform:
IDS 7.31.UC5 and Online 5.10.UD1
Solaris 2.51

Just about everyone in this situation, I think! :-0

You might have some luck with the X7 patch to UC5.

1. KAIO assert failure on HP-UX 11.0 / IDS 7.31 fc4

When I try to initialize IDS shared memory with KAIOON=1, I get the
following errors:

Event alarms enabled.  ALARMPROG = '/informix/etc/log_full.sh'
10:02:17  DR: DRAUTO is 0 (Off)

I have the latest HP patches on the system, and the /dev/async driver
loaded and created in /dev. I can bring IDS up without KAIO
enabled...but would rather use it for the performance gain.

Any ideas?
