Hi,

We are using Informix 7.31uc7xn on Solaris 8. I would like to clarify
about the "Next extent size" for any table on the "oncheck -pt <tabname>
output. Since we are using SAP R/3 on informix, we do use SAPDBA for our
Database maintenance.

Using SAPDBA, Iam trying to reduce a table's extent size due to our
temporary disk constraints issue.. The scenario is as follows.

1) Next extent size before changing - it was 600000 KB
2) Using SAPDBA, i'm trying 2 change the table's extent size to 300000 KB.
3) SAPDBAsays "Alter table successful".Its true that the table's next extent
size changed in system catalog table "systables" for that table
which iam altering to 300000 KB.
Note: Actually SAPDBA alter the table extent size in the same way as what
we used to do from DBACCESS for the above issue.
4) But if i use "oncheck -pt <tabname>",i still get the next extent size as
600000 KB.
5) Does Oncheck display table info retrieve from some other system table
apart from "systables"  ?
6) If so,how do i rectify this problem ?

Please note that reducing next extent size for other tables using SAPDBA
works fine on PRD ,and even for this table on other servers such as DEV/QAS
using SAPDBA works fine but not on PRD.

Can anybody suggest me what could have gone wrong ?

Regards
Rajesh
